History
In 1533, after Pskov joined the Moscow state [4] , the Pustorzhevsky district was created with its center in Rzhev Pustoy .
As part of the Russian Empire
In the XVIII century , Arsho churchyard was located on this territory, in which in 1777 the administration of the county from Empty Rzhev was transferred . At the same time, the churchyard received the status of a city and was renamed Novorzhev. In 1796, the city received the status of supernumerary. In 1802, county status was restored.
At the beginning of the XX century, the main occupation of the inhabitants was agriculture , although there were also a number of factories and handicrafts were developed.
Under Soviet
On August 1, 1927, the Novorzhevsky district of the Pskov region was formed on the territory of the Novorzhevsky district, the basis of which was then the former Novorzhevsky volost. [5] Also in 1927, the Bezhanitsky district was isolated from the county. [6]
