History and Activities
The idea of creating a biennale belongs to Pasquine de Gignioux - an art lover and gallery owner. Back in the 1980s, she began supporting glass artists and played an important role in the creation of the Department of Glass at the Strasbourg Higher Art School ( École supérieure des arts décoratifs , ESAD ) and the Alsatian College of Art and Music ( Haute école des arts du Rhin , HEAR ). When she fell ill in 2003, two of the clients of her art gallery, Galerie Pasquine de Gignoux , collectors Laurent Schmoll and Marcel Burg, continued her work and founded the ESGAA to make art glass available to the public. ESGAA became President Laurent Schmol. [one]
