“ Lucid Dreams ” (from the English - “Lucid Dreams”; alternative name “ Lucid Dreams (Forget Me) ”, from the English - “Lucid Dreams (Forget Me)”) [2] - song of the American musician Juice WRLD . It was officially released on Grade A Productions [3] and Interscope Records on May 4, 2018 , previously released on SoundCloud in June 2017 . The song was produced by Nick Mira and debuted at number seventy-four on the Billboard Hot 100 [4] , later reaching second place on the chart. [five]

History

"Lucid Dreams" was originally released for free broadcast on SoundCloud as part of the Juice WRLD mini album 9 9 9 June 15, 2017 [6] . Ultimately, he collected 2.5 million plays, which was subsequently reissued as a single on May 4, 2018 . [7] [8]

Juice WRLD said that the song was made as a “therapy session” during a period of relationship problems that he had experienced. [9]

Composition

Lucid Dreams lasts four minutes. The pace is 84 beats per minute [10] . The instrumental of the song is based on the sample of the 1993 Sting composition “ Shape of My Heart ” [11] . Some journalists reported that Sting was either considering a lawsuit or suing Juice WRLD for using parts of his song without permission [12] , although he was initially flattered by the use of his music. [13]

Video clip

The video for “Lucid Dreams” was released on May 10, 2018 and was produced by Cole Bennett [14] . HotNewHipHop's Milca P. described the clip as "psychedelic and abstract." [15]

Commercial Success

The song debuted at number 74 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the week ending May 17, 2018, with 10 million US streams and 4,000 digital downloads [4] . The song went to the 35th place next week, and then to the 15th place [5] [16] . When he reached the ninth line of the chart, “Lucid Dreams” became the first song from the top 10 Juice WRLD on June 12, 2018 with 35.9 million streams in the USA and 9000 downloads [17] . After which he reached the top position at number two, never having topped the chart due to the single Maroon 5 and Cardi Bee “ Girls Like You ”. [five]
