Pac & Pal ( パ ッ ク & パ ル Pakku ando Paru ) is an arcade video game developed by the Japanese company Namco and released in 1983 . Items had to be unlocked first by flipping cards distributed across the maze (instead of having keys, as in Super Pac-Man ). This game was released only in Japan.

Story

Walking around the city, Pak-Man accidentally encounters a green stranger named Miru, who appears before him. Pak-Man also appears in front of her and they go on walking in the park, but they meet a ghostly mafia that spoils their walk. Park-Man will have to improve the walk for Mira and he instructs her to transfer things to him if she sees with her own eyes.

Gameplay

Another new feature of the game Pac-Man (in addition to the World) - the ability to fire. Instead of having pathogens, two edible items are a specific bonus item of the round, which is displayed at the bottom of the screen after each new round. The first two are the flagship Galaxian . Later items include: a red Rally-X car, a pipe, a snowman, and even other Pac-Men. When Pac-Man eats them, instead of ghosts turning blue, he himself turns blue, and for a moment has the power to spit out a ray, smoke, musical note, nasty rays and miniature versions of himself in ghosts (which turn purple, and sometimes blue, into depending on the item used to stun them). This stuns them and gives the familiar scores of 200, 400, 800 and 1600 for each ghost shot. While ghosts are stunned, Pac-Man can walk through them. If the stunning effect runs out before the beam-shooting ability disappears, Pac-Man can shoot another 1600 points in the ghost again. The value of the item will not be reset if Pac-Man eats another bonus item before the effect disappears.

The third round and each subsequent round is a bonus round in which the labyrinth contains only cards that will give an increasing number of points when turning over. When Pac-Man flips a card under Peace, players receive a bonus doubled by their bonus account when the round ends. The card with Blinky below it completes the round. Pac-Man will not lose a life, so the absence of ghosts in the round should be noted.

Each round also has a simple background music, unlike any previous Pac-Man games.

About World Character

This game features an exclusive character: Miru (ミ ル), "buddy" in the title. She is a small green female ghost (indicated by her hair bow), similar to gooseberries with legs. When the item is unlocked, she wanders, giving Pac-Man some time to try to get the item. After a while, she will take him to a ghost house, where he will be lost forever. This can help in passing the round, and if she brings there the last one, he will automatically complete the round. Due to the ability to take advantage of this, this may be the reason why she is known as a "buddy." She is not affected by other ghosts. To get the maximum points from items in each round (and a great bonus at the end), Pac-Man must first eat them or intercept them from the World.

Initially, the game was about to be released in the United States, and instead of Peace, they would replace World with Chomp-Chomp, the cartoon Pac-Man dog, and the name of the game would be changed to Pac-Man & Chomp-Chomp. But since Namco was no longer working with Midway at that time, Pac-Man & Chomp Chomp was never released.
