Rabbit in hat

Cylinder and magic wand - symbols of illusionism

The rabbit in the hat is a famous trick that has become a symbol of illusionism as such.

It is performed quite rarely, as it has become a “battered cliche”. Presumably, John Henry Anderson ( 1814 - 1874 ) was the first to show it. This happened in the 30s of the XIX century [1] .

The magician puts the hat on the table or drawer. After that, he pulls out an object from the hat (traditionally a rabbit ).

Secret

Option one
When the magician puts down his hat, he combines it with the secret door on the table. The hat also has a secret hole. Through them, the magician pulls out a rabbit.

If the item is small, the magician could hide it in the sleeve.

Second option

Insert valve

Insert Valve Application

The secret is to use the reclining insert valve.
The valve consists of two parts - the base and the lobe. Material - thin cardboard .
Basis - in size and shape corresponds to the bottom of the cylinder .
Petal - fits snugly against the walls and leans back freely during a stunt.
The whole device is painted in the color of the cylinder liner.
A rabbit is hiding under a petal.

Third option

The rabbit is placed in a cloth bag. By design, the bag is a black shawl made of dense fabric, assembled at its four ends in the manner of a nodule. The bag is hung on a hook to the table top for a trick table. Spectators do not see this pendant, as it is hidden by a tablecloth with a long fringe covering the table. After some training, the performer can easily pick up the bag with a cylinder, and then take out the rabbit and show it to the audience. The rabbit does not require special training. This animal in a dark bag sits completely calm.
