Description and justification of symbolism
In accordance with heraldic norms and historical traditions, the following basic elements of the coat of arms of the Omsk region are established:
- The βhonorary figure β of the coat of arms of the Omsk region is the golden cross - a symbol of Christian virtues: faith, justice, mercy, he also points to the fact that the Omsk region is located in the geographical center of Russia and is a link between the West and the East , between the North and the South of the country . The bandage (the horizontal part of the cross) symbolizes the Trans-Siberian Railway , which gave impetus to the economic development of the Omsk region. The golden color is a symbol of power, stability, strength, wealth.
- A wavy azure pillar encumbering the vertical part of the cross illustrates the connection of the North with the South by the waterway along the Irtysh River . Azure is a symbol of beauty, grandeur, gentleness.
- To express the administrative center of the region, a scarlet fortress with five bastions with a golden arch in the middle is placed in the heart of the shield - these are the contours of the Omsk fortress, founded in 1716 , and the Tara Gate , erected as a defensive structure. The scarlet (red) color symbolizes courage, fearlessness, military valor. It is the color of life, mercy and love.
- 32 small green pyramids - eight (2, 1, 2, 1 and 2) in each of the corners of the heraldic shield correspond to the number of districts of the Omsk Region and at the same time symbolize vegetation, oil and gas deposits. Greens - a symbol of abundance, hope, joy.
- The silver (white) color of the shield field serves as a symbol of purity of thoughts, nobility, justice, generosity and indicates the climatic features of Siberia - its endless expanses of snow.
- Golden oak branches connected by the Alexander ribbon, the golden ancient Russian royal crown according to the canons of heraldry are placed in the arms of the regions. External decorations of the coat of arms of the Omsk region indicate the status of the Omsk region as a subject of the Russian Federation [1] .
