Justification of Symbols

The coat of arms of the Novosibirsk Region is compiled in accordance with the rules of heraldry and reflects historical, socio-economic, cultural and other local features [2] [3] .

The azure pillar is a symbol of the Ob River , flowing through the territory of the Novosibirsk Region [4] . Two black sables on top of the pillar, facing each other, are elements in the coat of arms of Siberia ( “according to the hierarchical relationship of the sable, they can rightfully adorn the coat of arms of the region, the only one from the Siberian regions containing the word“ Siberia ”in its name" [3] ) and the coat of arms Novosibirsk - the city, "which played a fundamental role in the formation of the region" [3] . The figures of sables in the coat of arms of the Novosibirsk region personify “continuity of generations, traditions, historical memory” [3] .

A golden loaf with a salt shaker is a symbol of the agricultural specifics of the Novosibirsk Region, as well as a symbol of prosperity, abundance, hospitality, and rising hopes. The image of the loaf is associated with the famous proverb: “Bread is the head of everything” [4] . The silhouette of this figure repeats the outline of the dome of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater - one of the main cultural attractions of the administrative center of the region, and thus symbolizes the "glorious history of the region, the richest culture and art, education, enlightenment, mutual understanding, humanization" [3] . In general, the “loaf-dome” emblem reflects “the unity of the inhabitants of the region, the high spiritual and cultural potential of the region” [3] .

The black filamentous belt is a symbol of the Trans-Siberian Railway passing through the Novosibirsk Region [4] . Its intersection with the Ob is “the main historical factor in the birth of Novosibirsk in 1893, and as a continuation of this, the creation of the Novosibirsk region with its center in Novosibirsk in 1937” [3] .

Silver, greens, azure - the main colors of the arms of the Siberian kingdom and Novosibirsk [4] . Silver symbolizes purity of thoughts, devotion, faith, as well as “natural, climatic peculiarity of the region, region, special character, persistence of Siberians” , “snowy expanses characteristic of a very long period of severe Siberian winter” [3] .
