Content
History
The museum was built on the site of former municipal slaughterhouses on the left bank of the Ile River; its architect was . The museum building was inaugurated in December 1998 by , the Minister of Culture of France in the government of Lionel Jospin and the former mayor of Strasbourg (the first woman mayor of France with a population of more than 100,000 people). Since March 2008, the curator of the museum is Estelle Pietrzyk [2] , who worked at the Picasso Museum , the Rodin Museum and is one of the creators in Rodez .
Each year, the museum holds about ten of its own exhibitions on contemporary art by contemporary artists. , dating back to 1877, has over 140,000 volumes and is a unique collection of French heritage. One of the courtyards adjacent to the museum, named Place Jean-Arp , since its inception, has also been an important cultural place in Strasbourg, where visitors can freely skate or skateboard . Collection
