History
Proto-collection of St. Joseph in Bradstown
The first European settlement on the territory of present Bradstown was founded in 1780. Bradstown is the second city based in Kentucky. [1] . Bradstown was named the center of Nelson County in 1784, and the status of the city was officially obtained in 1788 [2] . The city was incorporated into Kentucky by the state general assembly in 1838. [3]
The main migration of people occurred from the Blue Ridge region , after the US War of Independence . Bradstown also became the center of Catholicism , east of the Appalachian mountains, on the territory of US border possessions [4] . .
