Kafir-kala - the ruins of the ancient Sogdian castle of the 5th-6th centuries, which was located near the settlement of the same name near Samarkand . It was one of the important city centers of Sogd [1] . It was erected on a canvas platform with a height of about 4 meters and was not protected by external walls. Almost nothing has been preserved from the top floor of the castle, which occupied its middle part. According to archaeologists, the Sogdian castle demonstrates the desire of its builders to create an expressive image of a monumental centric dwelling based on a harmonious and rather complex combination of volumetric forms [2] .
