Bolshoi Khomutets is a village in the Dobrovsky district of the Lipetsk region . Center of the Bolshekhomutetsk rural settlement. The Kolpinka River flows into the Stabnoye Lake through the village.

It is mentioned in documents from 1627 to 1628 as “the village of Khomutets on the Khomutovka River beyond the Voronezh River on the Nagai side” [2] . The village was the property of the Moscow Chudov Monastery .
The name is along the previously existing small river Khomutitsa . Hydronym from the word khomutets - bending of the channel in the form of a clamp.
In the 19th century , the Trinity Church was built in the Big Chomutz [3] (
architectural monument (regional) ).
