Career

Samuel was born November 14, 1990 in Austin in the family of Cynthia and Jack Selman. In 2009, he graduated from St. Andrews Episcopal School. In 2008 and 2009, he was part of the all-star team of the conference, and was recognized as the Most Valuable Player of the school team. In the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft, Sam was selected by the Los Angeles Angels Club in the fourteenth round. He refused to sign a professional contract and continued his studies at Vanderbilt University [1] .

Selman began performing for Vanderbilt Commodors in 2010, played four games in which his transmittance was 9.00. The following season, he played for the team in six matches. In the summer of 2010 and 2011, Sam played in the student league for Mankato Mundogs. In 2012, he began to act as a starting pitcher, won nine victories in the championship and became the best in the team by this indicator [1] .

In the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, Selman, under a sixty-fourth number, chose the Kansas City Royals Club [2] . He spent the first full season at a professional level in 2013 as part of the Wilmington Blue Rocks , scoring eleven wins with nine defeats. Sam spent the 2014 championship worse and lost his place in the starting rotation of pitchers [3] .

In February 2019, after spending seven years in the Royals farm, Sam signed a contract with the San Francisco Giants Club [4] . In the first part of the season, he spent forty innings on the field for the Sacramento River Cats with a transmittance of 1.15. By early August, Selman was the leader among all Pacific League League pitchers in terms of strikeouts. He was called up to the Giants main squad on August 1, making his debut on Major League Baseball the same day [5] .
