Club career

The striker began his career in the Dragon team in the second division of El Salvador. Having left the club in Example , he scored 34 goals in two seasons. In the 1989/1990 season, his team took 9th place in the championship, in the 1990/1991 season, “Dragon” took off from the first division. In 1991, the striker moved to the Luis Angel Firpo football club, with whom he won the national championship twice. In 1996, Raul started playing for DC United from Washington , being selected at the MLS Inaugural Draft [2] . In the first season, the striker scored 23 goals in the regular season and 6 goals in the playoffs of the MLS Cup . In the MLS Cup, the Salvadoran footballer scored 2 goals in the semi-finals (Eastern Conference finals) and helped the metropolitan team reach the finals, where DC United won 2-1 against Colorado Rapids . In the CONCACAF Champions Cup 1997, the striker scored 1 goal in the match for 3rd place against the Mexican Guadalajara . In 1997, due to a conflict with midfielder Marco Etcheverri, the footballer left DC United.
