Trichonotus blochii (lat.) Is a species of ray-finned fish from the order Trachiniformes .

Description
The body is elongated, rounded in cross section; slightly compressed laterally; covered with cycloid scales . Pointed snout. The length of the head is 18–20% of the standard body length, and the length of the snout is 25–31% of the length of the head. The mouth is large, oblique; the lower jaw protrudes somewhat forward. Eyes are directed forward. The eye above is closed by the iris, consisting of numerous elongated strands. The dorsal fin has 5–7 hard and 43–46 soft rays. Males have 4-6 hard rays of the dorsal fin with elongated outgrowths. In the anal fin there is one prickly and 39–41 soft rays. Pectoral fins with 11-15 soft rays. In abdominal fins 1 prickly and 5 soft rays. The lateral line is complete with 57-60 scales, stretching along the middle of the body; at the back of the scales have deep V-shaped notches. Males on the caudal fin have two black stripes [1] [2]
The maximum body length is 14.3 cm [3] .
Distribution
Distributed in the eastern Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean off the coast of Australia from western Australia to Queensland including the coastal waters of northern Australia and the Gulf of Carpentaria .
