The son of a teacher at the parish school and organist Adam Daugulis. He began to study music with his father, from the age of 11 he played the organ in the Zeswegen Church. He graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory (1904), a student of Anna Yesipova , was also involved in the composition class of Felix Blumenfeld . Concerted until 1926, but from the very beginning he preferred pedagogical work.

In 1908-1914 taught at the Samara College of Music at the invitation of its first director Jekaba Karklin . In 1914 he returned to Riga, but with the outbreak of the First World War, together with Pavel Yuryan, he was evacuated deep into Russia, in 1915-1917. worked at the Kursk College of Music, where among his students was Matvey Blanter [1] . After returning to Latvia in 1918-1920. led a small music school in the estate of the Exchange near Madona , was the first teacher of Harald Mednis [2] . In 1921-1951 Lecturer at the Latvian Conservatory , since 1927 professor. Among his conservative students are Victor Babin , Margher Zarins , Stasis Vainyunas . The pedagogical work of Daugulis left a deep mark in the Latvian national pianistic school [3] .
