Biography
Born August 9, 1990 in Raisio . Originally from a poor Finnish family. Since 2004 , participates in youth competitions [1] , since 2005 - in adult tournaments [2] . He was engaged in the popularization of table hockey as a sport - there is evidence of his participation in tournaments in Ukraine [3] , [4] .
Sports Competition
Roni achieved his first major successes at the 2005 World Championships, which took place in Latvia in Riga . Roni Nuttunen, who at that time was 14 years old, initially played for the youth team, in this category he won the main prize - the gold medal of the junior world championship, winning the final against Russian Ivan Zakharov [2] . After winning the youth tournament, Roni Nuttunen played for the adult team of Finland, which for the first time became the world champion. He also took second place among adults, losing the final to the Swedes Hans Osterman.
At the next world championship in 2007 , which was held in Russia in Moscow, Roni Nuttunen became the world champion in the singles championship, beating Alexey Zakharov [5] , [6] , [7] . Roni Nuttenen is also the winner of the VII International Moscow Cup tournament in 2007 [8] , [9] . In 2009 , he won the World Cup in Budapest , defeating Russian Janis Galuso in the final. At the 2011 home world championships in Turku, he lost the final to Russian Oleg Dmitrichenko, after which he stopped active performances for several years.
Since the spring of 2018, Nuttunen returned to major tournaments [10] and won two stages of the World Tour , but at the 2019 World Cup he took only 9th place, losing in the 1/8 finals [11] .
