Biography
Son of Jean III de Nelay (d. October 8, 1286) and Margarita de Montfort (1225/35 - 1284 or later). Even during the life of his father, he received the possession of the seigneur Shime.
Wife (wedding no later than 1280) - Margarita de Ruminini, daughter of Hugo II de Ruminini from his second wife, Philippa. Children:
- Jean V de Nell (1281-1304), Count of Soissons. I have not been married.
- Hugo de Nell (d. After October 1305), Count of Soissons. At the beginning of 1305 he married Jeanne de Darcy (1290–1333 / 37), the lady of Darcy and Kato, the daughter of Renard II, the lord Darji and Kato. Widowed, in 1310 she married Jean de Clermont, Count of Charolais.
Hugo de Nell and Jeanne de Dargi had an only child - daughter Margarita (1305 / 06-1350), who was born after the death of her father. She inherited the county of Soissons.
Not later than February 1317, Margarita married Jean d'Aven, Senor de Beaumont, son of Jean II, Count of Hainaut.
Their daughter Jeanne de Beaumont after the death of her mother (1350) became the Countess of Soissons. Her son Guy II de Chatillon, held in English captivity, in 1367 ceded the county to the English king, and he handed it over to his son-in-law Angerran VII , Senor de Cuci.
