Biography

He received a degree in engineering from Milan Technical University , worked in his specialty. In 1946, he became mayor of the Gorgonzola commune, held this post for 34 years until 1980. He was president of the National Institute of Urban Planning and president of the Institute of Economic and Social Research of Lombardy . Social Sciences ILSES (Istituto lombardo di studi economici e sociali). He was also the interim president of the Institute for Family Social Services (Istituto servizio sociale familiare).

In 1958-1968 He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies from the Christian Democratic Party , was a member of the Committee on Public Works.

In 1968-1983 Member of the Senate of Italy from the region of Lombardy. He was a member of the committees for public works, transport, postal services, telecommunications and the merchant navy (1968-1972) and the Senate Standing Committee on Hygiene and Health (1971-1972). He was elected chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Industry, Trade and Tourism (1972-1973), while he was a member of the Senate Standing Committee on Public Works and Communications. From 1974 to 1983, he was a member of the Standing Committee on Budget and a member of the Committee on European Community Affairs (1979-1983).

  • 1968-1970 - Minister of Health
  • 1970-1972 - Minister without a portfolio to coordinate initiatives of research and technology initiatives,
  • February-June 1972 - Minister of Foreign Trade,
  • 1973-1974 - Minister without a portfolio on cultural heritage,
  • March-November 1974 - Minister of Tourism and Spectacular Events.

Awards and titles

  • Medal "For Contribution to the Development of Culture and Art" (1980).
