History
The presence of the population in the territory of the commune has been noted since prehistoric times. The first human footprints date from the Neolithic , around 4500 BC; these are fragments of ceramics, bronze coins and arrowheads, as well as several menhirs . In the Bronze Age (around 2000 BC), metal processing develops; found bronze weapons (daggers and axes) belong to this time. Also on the territory of the commune burial mounds of this period were discovered. The Iron Age (about 300 BC) is marked by the presence of the Celts . Also found many items of the Gallic and Gallo-Roman periods.
A medieval settlement was formed on Cape Combri, where the first parish church was built, and in the 14th century its center moved deeper into the peninsula. In the XV century, not far from Combry , banks were opened, abounding in hegas , which contributed to the prosperity of the local population.
Residents of Combrey actively participated in the uprising of the stamp paper in 1675, for which they were punished: on the orders of the governor of Brittany, the Duke of Scholn , the bell tower of the local parish church was demolished and 14 peasants were hanged on the same oak.
