Mother Hydra ( born Mother Hydra ) is the fictional Ancient God of the American writer G. F. Lovecraft , who is part of the Myths of Cthulhu . Along with her husband, Father Dagon , she is the direct patron of the Deepwaters , who respectfully refer to them as Father Dagon and Mother Hydra. It looks like a Hydra Deepwater (humanoid with features of fish and amphibians ), but differs in gigantic sizes. Hydra is mentioned in several works of G. F. Lovecraft , including The Shadow on Innsmouth . The Lovecraftian Hydra is probably based on the interpretation of the etymology of the name of the ancient Greek deity of Lernean Hydra .
Description
Mother Hydra is a creature that lives in the ocean and, as they say, along with her husband, Father Dagon , rules the Deep Sea race.
There is a debate about whether Mother Hydra is an “Ancient God” or presented as a grotesque and typical representative of the Deepwater . Since the characters do not meet her directly, it is impossible to know the description of her forms, except what is already known about Dagon . Hydra has a huge size and has an unnaturally long lifespan.
| It was useless to resist the Order of Dagon - there are hordes of them there, under water. Usually they did not rise to the surface and did not touch the people, but if something forced them to do it, then there was no contact with them. We were only required to regularly sacrifice someone to them. Our children never died, they just went back to Mother Hydra and Father Dagon, from whom we all once came ... Ya! Ya Cthulhu Phthagn!
