History
The party, whose list was led by Ernest Mutussami, was first represented in the 1992 regional elections, receiving 13,106 votes (10.78%) and 5 deputy seats. The PCU, led by Mona Cadose, was reduced to 7,100 votes (5.84%) and only 3 seats.
In the second round of the 1993 French parliamentary elections , Ernest Mutussami defeated his former comrade Mona Cadose of the GCP in the second district.
In the 1994 European Parliament elections, Ernest Mutussami topped the list entitled “Assembly of Overseas Territories and Minorities” with the Martinique Progressive Party, the Guiana Socialist Party and the Reunion Communist Party . The list received 37,041 votes (0.19%) of the total number of votes in France.
In the failed 1995 PPDG, Henri Bangu lost his seat in the Senate, losing to Dominic Larifle. The PPDG split led to this: Henri Banguu got 202 votes, and Marceline Lube - 127 votes, but Dominic Larifla with 260 votes got around them.
In 1997, Ernest Mutussami was elected mayor of Le Moult .
Since the 1998 regional elections, the party has been in alliance with the Guadalupe Federation of the Socialist Party (FGPS) and another center-left party, the Unified, Joint and Responsible Guadeloupe (GUSR).
In the 2000s, the party lost its influence and became a satellite of the Socialist Party, led by Viktoren Lurel .
