Description

Body length 9 mm, front wing length 5 mm. Antenna more than 15 segments. The abdomen is elongated, the ovipositor is long. The age of prints is estimated from 130 to 125 Ma (Cretaceous, Spain , La Cabrua outcrop, Sierra del Montsec). The abdomen on a long stalk is attached high on the posterior thorax. It is one of the oldest fossil species of Evanioidea . Modern representatives of this group of riders parasitize on cockroaches [1] .

Classification and Etymology

The species was first described in 2000 by the Russian paleoentomologist Professor Alexander Pavlovich Rasnitsyn ( Paleontological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences , Moscow , Russia ) and his Spanish colleague X. Martínez-Delclòs (Spain). The species and genus were isolated in their own family † Andreneliidae Rasnitsyn & Martínez-Delclòs, 2000 [1] , although some authors consider Andrenelia as part of the Evanian species [2] . Currently, the Andreneliidae family is recognized as valid and sister to Evaniidae, forming with them a monophyletic group close to Othniodellithidae and further to Anomopterellidae and Gasteruptiidae [3] [4] [5] .

The genus Andrenelia was named after the French paleontologist Dr. André Nel (Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris , France ) [1]
