Early life
Adele was born in Lagos in 1893 with Buraimo Adele and Moriamo Lalugby, named after his grandfather - King Adel Azhosun . He attended the Holy Trinity Elementary School in Ebutta-Hero , and then at the CMS Gymnasium in Lagos. During secondary education, he entered the service as a trainee-surveyor in the British colonial government , after completing his studies, he was sent to Kano as an inspector, then served as a surveyor in the Cameroon Expeditionary Force during the First World War . Board
After the death of Falol Dosunmu Adenigi, Adele was elected king, and on October 1, 1949, with the consent of the British, he was proclaimed Obama Lagos. At that time, the king was a supporter of the Nigerian youth movement, a member of the cultural organization Egba Omo Oduduva, led by Obafemi Avolovo . He was a member of the Nigerian National Democratic Party Herbert Macaulay , who had previously led to the throne of Dosunm. The party opposed the election of Adele, based on the fact that he was not the direct heir to the deceased monarch. When Macaulay was succeeded by Benjamin Nnamdi Azikive , the ideological opponent of Adeniji Adele, the party was sued. Oba Adele’s right to the throne was finally confirmed by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council of Great Britain in 1957 [3] . The year before, from the hands of Queen Adele received the Order of the British Empire and the title of commander, and in 1962 he was ordained knight-bachelor [4] [5] .
