Sazikov (jewelry company) is a jewelry company, founded in 1810 in the Russian Empire , known for making jewelry made of gold, silver and precious stones. Winner of various awards of international and Russian exhibitions. Supplier of the Court of His Imperial Majesty . One of the first Russian jewelry companies to start manufacturing items in the Russian style [1] . The company is also known for sculptural images from silver [2] .

History

In 1793, in Moscow, a native of Pavlovsky Posad , a peasant Pavel Fedorovich Sazikov (died in 1830 [2] ), a jewelry workshop was founded. In the coming years, the founder of the company and his son Ignatius enrolled in the merchants and began to produce silver products of both church and secular purposes.

In 1812, a factory and a company store were opened on the basis of the workshop. Ignatius Sazikov (died in 1879 [2] ), the son of the founder of the factory, traveled abroad, where he studied jewelry manufacturing technologies [3] .

In 1836, the Department of Manufactures and Domestic Trade decided to give Sazikov production the status of a factory [4] .

Ignatius Sazikov organized the division of labor at the factory, which had a positive effect on productivity. In addition, he organized a school of artisans with 80 seats [3] .

In 1837, Ignatius Pavlovich Sazikov received the right to be called the Court Factory of Silver Products, an analogue of the Supplier of the Court [4] .

In 1842, a branch of the company was opened in St. Petersburg .

In 1843, Sazikov brought from France the first Russian guilloche machine .

In 1845, a special school for 80 people was opened at the factory to train silver and gold craftsmen.

In 1851, the company's products were presented at the 1851 World Exhibition. The jury saw 9 works on a folk theme: a rooster, a peasant with a bear, a villager with a bandura, a thrush, a hunter. For the candelabrum, decorated with scenes from the Battle of Kulikovo , the company received a gold medal [1] .

In 1868, after the death of Ignatius Sazikov, the matter passed to his sons. Sergey and Pavel received the Moscow branch, Valentin received the St. Petersburg branch.

In the 1880s, a store in St. Petersburg was located on 29 Bolshaya Morskaya .

In 1881, the Moscow factory processed 58 pounds of silver for 127 thousand rubles, St. Petersburg - 67 pounds of silver for 39 thousand rubles. 46 workers worked in Moscow, 74 in St. Petersburg.

In 1887, shops and factories were transferred to the company of Khlebnikov [5] .

Famous works, style and hallmarks

Sazikov’s company is considered the founder of the Russian style in jewelry. Sazikov's assortment included objects stylized as bast shoes, baskets, village houses, utensils.

To create many complex works, high-level artists were involved: Klodt , Vitali , Solntsev [3] , Lansere .

For the wedding of the Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolayevich Sazikov made silver service with Byzantine ornaments based on sketches of Fyodor Solntsev [6] .

In the film “ The Barber of Siberia ”, Alexander III welcomed regiments with a cup of Sazikov’s work on Red Square . In order to film a genuine object in the film, special permits were obtained [7] .

The State Historical Museum stores tea devices with cast heads, spoons, salt shakers, a mug, a travel bag and other utilitarian objects [2] .

Sazikov’s products are known with the stamps “PS”, “IS”, “I.S”, “SAS”, “SAZIKOV”, “P. SAZIKOV ”,“ SAZIKOVA ” [5] .

Memory

In honor of the jewelry company Sazikova, the Bank of Russia in 2016 issued a commemorative coin made of 925 silver with a total weight of 169 grams. The authors of the obverse are the artist E. V. Kramskaya and the sculptor A. A. Dolgopolov, the reverse - the artist A. A. Brynza and the sculptor A. V. Gnidin. The circulation was minted at the St. Petersburg Mint and amounted to 850 copies [9] .

In 2014, the Gokhran hosted the exhibition “Great Masters of the 19th Century. The jewelry house of the Sazikovs and his contemporaries ” [10] .

In 2017, Goznak released a series of 7 table medals dedicated to the famous Russian jewelers. One of the medals is dedicated to Ignatius Sazikov. The obverse of the medal depicts the famous sculptural composition "Three", created according to the model of E. A. Lansere [11] .
