History
The Zoological Museum of the Biological Faculty of the Belarusian State University was established in 1921 at the initiative of the leading department of zoology, Professor Anatoly Vladimirovich Fedyushin, who donated about 250 copies.
In 1940, the museum fund consisted of more than 6 thousand units of vertebrate animals only. During the Second World War , only a third of the collection remained. In 1948, the museum resumed work. In 1981 it was reconstructed and expanded.

In addition, the museum has a significant number of long-extinct fossil animals, for example, fragments of the skeleton of a fossil elephant (the only finds in Belarus) that were discovered in 2006 during the construction of the Minsk Metro . Also here are concentrated a series of new species for science, stored unique zoological exhibits of the XIX - XX centuries .
