Shebunino (mine)

Shebunino - a coal mining enterprise (mine) in the village of Shebunino , Nevelsky district , Sakhalin region . The mine was part of Kholmskugol JSC.

History

When South Sakhalin was in Japanese power, a brown coal deposit was discovered in the Minami-Nayoshi settlement. At that time, the Japanese founded a mine on the site of coal deposits and received the name "Mine No. 8/9." After the transfer of South Sakhalin to the USSR, Mine No. 8/9 received the name Shebunino, in honor of the village in which it was located, only in 1971 . Almost the entire population of the former village worked at the mine. There were other jobs at the mine. After the economic crisis, the mine closed, and in 1996 it was liquidated.
