Naumenko, Alexander Grigorievich

Naumenko was born in Lipetsk, Russia. After graduating from the Lipetsk College of Music, he studied at the Moscow Conservatory. P.I. Tchaikovsky with the Georgian tenor Zurab Sotkilava, and then continued his studies at the Moscow Opera Studio. He attended workshops by Alfredo Kraus, Renata Scotto, Renato Capecchi, Ernst Hefliger, Nancy Evans and Aldo Baldina.

While in Moscow, Naumenko performed the parts of Podholusin (“Marriage”) for the Bolshoi Theater, Alfredo (“La Traviata”), Lensky (Eugene Onegin) and Don Giovanni (“Stone Guest”) in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. In 1991, he made his American debut at the San Francisco Military Memorial Opera House as Plato Karataev (War and Peace), directed by Valery Gergiev. After moving to the UK, he sang with the English National Opera in such roles as Dr. Kai (Falstaff) under the direction of Mark Elder and Ladislav (Two Widows).

Then Naumenko worked a lot throughout Europe, playing roles, including Cavaradossi (Tosca) with the European Chamber Opera, Fenton (Falstaff) with the English Tour Opera, Don Jose (Carmen) at the Chelmsford Festival, Misale (Boris Godunov) with the Opera of Ireland under management of Alexander Anisimov. Milio (Le Roi d'Ys Lalo) with University College opera, Flute (A Midsummer Night's Dream) and Dr. Kai (Falstaff) for the Stuart Bedford festival in Aldeburg. In Germany, he played the role of Mozart (Mozart and Salieri). He sang Plato Karataev (War and Peace) and the Italian Prisoner in Strauss' Friedenstag in Concertgebau in Amsterdam under Edo de Waart, also broadcast on Dutch radio. After numerous speeches and speeches by speakers in Moscow, such as “Das Lied von der Erde” with the Kremlin Orchestra, “Mozart Requiem” under the direction of Yuri Simonov and “Les Noces” under the direction of Gennady Rozhdestvensky in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, he continued this for the border. Naumenko performed Verdi's Requiem under the direction of David Wilcox at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as Miss Solemnis and the Bach Christmas oratorio in Stuttgart under the direction of Helmut Rilling. Other parts include Midas in Phoebe Bach and Pan and the Ode to Joy of Tchaikovsky.

Later, Naumenko was included in the role of Moses Shakhkes in the Rothschild Violin (Fleishman / Shostakovich) performed by Gennady Rozhdestvensky, recorded for “Melody Records”. He worked with Chandos Records to record Rachmaninoff's Complete Songs with Howard Shelley, Joan Rogers, Maria Popescu and Sergey Leiferkus.

Naumenko works as a coach at the Royal Opera House, previously taught at the Moscow Conservatory.

He also works with leading orchestras, choirs and music foundations throughout the UK and Russia, including the London Symphony Choir, [8] the London Philharmonic Orchestra, CBSO Chorus and the Jackdaws Music Education Trust. Recently, he worked with Valery Gergiev at the British premiere of the film The Brothers Karamazov in the Barbican Hall. Along with his stage career, Naumenko continues a busy schedule as a vocal coach and composer.
