Jamel Belmadi ( Arabic: جمال بلماضي : born March 25, 1976 ) is an Algerian footballer, currently a coach. Since 2018, coaches the Algerian national team , with whom he won the 2019 African Cup of Nations .

Club career
Belmadi was born in Champigny-sur-Marne , France, and began his career at Paris Saint-Germain , making his debut in January 1996 against Goyon , after which he played for Martigues . He spent the 1997/1998 season at Marseille , and then went on loan to Caen for the 1998/1999 season. In August 1999, went on loan to the Spanish club " Celta ".
In January 2000, Belmadi returned to Marseille, eventually taking a permanent place in the midfield of the main team. On April 14, 2001, he scored the winning goal in the match against Sedan (2: 1), saving the team of Bernard Tapi from relegation from League 1.
In January 2003, Belmadi lost his playing practice at Marseille, which was now led by Alain Perrin , who agreed to let him go on loan to Manchester City Kevin Keegan . He joined the team with another Algerian Ali Benarbia . On January 29, 2003, Jamel made his full debut at Manchester City on the Main Road in a victory match against Fulham (4: 1). Within a short period of time as part of the “townspeople” he entered the field 2 times in the starting lineup and 6 times for a replacement.
In August 2003, he left Marseille and played the seasons 2003/2004 and 2004/2005 in Qatar with Al-Ittihad and Al-Hariyat . He completed his career at Southampton and Valenciennes . Since 2010, Belmadi in coaching.
Team Career
On July 9, 2000, he made his debut for the Algerian national team in a match against Morocco . In 2001, he was recognized as the country's best footballer.
Jamel was included in the 2004 Algerian National Cup of Africa , which took second place in his group in the first round of the competition, and then was defeated by Morocco in the quarterfinals.
The last time Belmadi played for Algeria in the World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe on June 20, 2004. He completed appearances in the national team, having spent 20 matches and scoring 5 goals.
