Gediminas Algimantovich Shugzhda ( lit. Gediminas Šugžda ; October 4, 1968, Telšiai ) - Soviet and Lithuanian footballer , who played at all positions in the field, coach. He played for the national team of Lithuania .

Biography

A pupil of the Youth Sports School in Telsiai. In 1985 he moved to альalgiris, where in the first season he played only for the double. The main team of the Vilnius club in the USSR major league debuted on May 2, 1986 in the match against Dynamo Tbilisi , replacing Stasis Baranauskas in the 87th minute [1] . In the Soviet championships, he could not become the main player in the club, having played only 11 matches in the championship in 1986-1990 (including one canceled match in 1990). Spent one match in the 1989/90 UEFA Cup against Gothenburg [2] . Notable for high performance in the double “Zalgiris”, in 1987 he scored 17 goals in the doubles championship, and in 1988 - 10 goals. Called to the youth team of the USSR.

After the Lithuanian teams left the USSR Championship, he took part in Zalgiris in the 1990 Baltic Championship and became the winner of this tournament, scoring 13 goals in 17 matches. In the short championship of Lithuania in 1990, he scored 4 goals in 4 matches and became a bronze medalist. The author of the first hat-trick of the independent championship of Lithuania (if we take into account only the final stage of the 1990 season) - October 15, 1990 in the match against Electronas (6: 0) [3] [4] .

In the spring of 1991, together with a group of Lithuanian players ( Romas Mazeikis , Arvydas Janonis , Robertas Fridrikas ) moved to Moscow Lokomotiv , spent the first half of the season in its composition, having played 7 matches and scoring 2 goals in the USSR major league. Then he returned to Жalgiris briefly.

Since 1992, he played in the clubs of the lower divisions of Germany - Rodheim, Karl Zeiss , Bayern (Hof), Rot-Weiss (Erfurt), Ottobrunn-1949, Weilheim-1847. As part of Karl Zeiss, he spent one season in the Second Bundesliga (1995/96), having played 13 matches.

In the national team of Lithuania, he played the only match on September 5, 1998 in the qualifying tournament of the European Championship against Scotland (0: 0), having spent the first 62 minutes on the field [5] .

After the end of his playing career, he worked as a coach in the German lower league clubs.
