Ippolit Konstantinovich (Karlovich) Vogak ( August 30 ( September 11 ), 1829 - July 16 ( 28 ), 1889 ) - officer of the Russian Imperial Navy , Rear Admiral since 1883, and in 1885-1887, the mayor of Taganrog . Since 1887 - the youngest flagship of the Baltic Fleet.

Service

Hippolyte Vogak was born on August 30, 1829. March 12, 1842 entered the cadet in the Marine Corps . On June 25, 1845, he was promoted to midshipman , and on August 14, 1847, to midshipmen . Enrolled in the Baltic Fleet . March 30, 1852 promoted to lieutenant .

During the Crimean War in 1854-1855, he was under the protection of Turku in the rowing flotilla detachment. August 10, 1854 participated in repelling the attack of the Anglo-French fleet. In 1855 he was appointed commander of the coastal battery number 6.

May 21, 1856 transferred to the 1st Finnish Navy crew, appointed commander of the gunboat No. 4 as part of the training squad of the flotilla. In 1857, he participated as part of the northern detachment in the shooting and measurements of the Baltic Sea. In 1858 he was on a screw boat "Leshiy", later - to Turku during the construction of a screw corvette "Kalevala".

In 1859-1861 he commanded the Khvat and Marevo screw boats. January 1, 1862 for the distinction promoted to lieutenant commander . In the same year he was appointed commander of the ship "Petersburg". In 1863 he was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav of the 3rd degree.

In 1864, he commanded the Neva, and in the same year, November 24, was appointed commander of the Lava tower boat. In 1866 he was awarded the Order of St. Anne of the 3rd degree, and in 1868 - the Order of St. Stanislav of the 2nd degree. January 1, 1870 was promoted to captain of the 2nd rank and in the same year was appointed commander of the tower boat " Mermaid ", which was part of the training and artillery detachment. In 1871 he was granted the imperial crown to the Order of St. Stanislav of the 2nd degree.

In 1872 he was transferred to the Black Sea crew, was awarded the Prussian Order of the Crown of the 2nd degree. Commanding the battleship ( assault ) "Novgorod", April 8, 1873 promoted to captain of the 1st rank . In the same year he was awarded the Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree and the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree with a bow for 25 years of service in officer ranks.

In 1874 he was transferred back to the Baltic Fleet, on the Griden corvette he was in charge of lifting a sunken commercial ship in the Krasnaya Gorka area, after which he was transferred to the Admiral Spiridov frigate with the appointment of flag captain at the camp headquarters of Adjutant General Popov .

In the same 1874 he was appointed commander of the armored ship Peter the Great . In 1875 he was awarded the Swedish Order of St. Olaf of the 2nd degree, and in 1876 - the Order of St. Vladimir of the 3rd degree. In 1879 he was granted a gift by rank with a monogram image of the name of the emperor.

In 1880 he was appointed commander of the new imperial yacht Livadia , on which he made the transition from the Baltic to the Black Sea, and was assigned to the 1st Black Sea crew. The following year, again transferred to the Baltic Fleet. On February 21, 1883, he was promoted to rear admiral with the appointment of the chief of staff of the chief commander of the Kronstadt port as correcting position.

In 1884 he was appointed the junior flagship of the Black Sea Fleet , and on February 25, 1885 - the Taganrog Mayor , with enrollment in the fleet. On August 30, 1887 he was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav of the 1st degree. January 1, 1888, in connection with the abolition of the Taganrog city government (May 19, 1887 Taganrog was included in the Don region ), left the state, and on February 15 of the same year was appointed the junior flagship of the Baltic Fleet.

Ippolit Konstantinovich died on July 16, 1889, according to some reports in Gapsal , after which his body was delivered to St. Petersburg on the schooner Compass . He was buried in St. Petersburg at the Smolensk Lutheran cemetery .

Ippolit Konstantinovich Vogak was married twice. The first wife is Maria Samoilovna, nee Baroness Hedwig Johann Maria von Troil (1.02.1836 - 2.05.1865). The second wife is Ekaterina Petrovna, nee Mescherinova.
