Formation

In accordance with the order and according to the plan of the Vasileostrovsky district military commissariat [11] of the city of Petrograd in September 1918, simultaneously with the 1st Vasileostrovsky working reserve regiment (later the 2nd Petrograd special regiment, and then the 17th rifle regiment of the 2nd rifle division ) [12] from among the volunteers - workers of the district, the 4th Vasileostrovsky Infantry Regiment was formed. The first commander of the regiment was appointed Chekhmarev V.P. Before being sent to the front by the leadership of the Vasileostrovsky Council, the regiment was given a battle flag . Unlike the 1st, which was left for training, the 4th Vasileostrovsky Infantry Regiment immediately, after being formed in September 1918 , was sent through the station in the city of Vyatka [13] to the Eastern Front and, upon arrival, became part of the 4th Ural Division . At this time, the regiment was commanded by Bashkirtsev, and O. Valeicho was appointed commissar. [3]

Fighting

From November 29, 1918 to January 6, 1919, the regiment participated in the 30th Infantry Slogan [14] in the Perm Defensive Operation . The result of the operation was a large-scale retreat beyond Kama and the surrender of Perm. Between February and May 1919, the regiment participated in the hostilities in the area of the city of Glazov . From May 25 to June 12, 1919 as part of the 29th Rifle [15] in the Sarapulo-Votkinsk operation . From June 21 to July 1, 1919 in the Perm offensive operation . From July 5 to July 20, 1919 in the Yekaterinburg operation . From August 20 to November 3, 1919 in the Peter and Paul Operation . [7] After the defeat of Kolchak's army, the regiment was sent west.
