The British Grand Prix of 2019 officially ( Eng. Formula 1 Rolex British Grand Prix 2019 ) [1] is a car race , the tenth stage of the Formula 1 World Championship [2] of the 2019 season , which took place on July 14, 2019 at Silverstone [ 3] in Silverston , UK . It was the 10th stage of the 2019 season , the 74th British Grand Prix in history - the 70th in the framework of the Formula 1 championships [2] and 54 on the Silverstone track [3] .
Lewis Hamilton won at Mercedes, becoming the first driver in history to win the British Grand Prix [1] six times.
The leader of the 2019 season, Lewis Hamilton began the race in the UK [1] with a margin of 31 points from teammate Valtteri Bottas . By the start of the race, the leader of the Cup of designers , the Mercedes stable, was ahead of 135 Ferrari pursuing them.

Tires
Tires [4] [5] in Pirelli have traditionally chosen the toughest - under the labeling Hard , Medium and Soft , compounds C1, C2 and C3 were used. The second year in a row before the Grand Prix [1] in Silverstone they laid new asphalt, smooth and slippery, but the load in high-speed turns remained high. It is wear, and not tire degradation, that determined the time of the pit stop.
Mercedes and Red Bull Racing used Medium tires in the second part of the qualification - and only they in the top ten did not start on Soft . Behind, too, many chose Medium , in the second ten on Soft only the Grozhan , Magnussen and Quat started the race.
