Brady's Law

23 years ago, the United States passed a law on the verification of personal data when buying weapons.

The reason for passing the Brady Law was the assassination attempt on President Reagan Twenty-three years ago that day (Thursday), the US Senate approved the Brady Bill, which sets a 5-day waiting period for the sale of handguns.

The adoption of the law was facilitated by an armed assassination attempt in 1981 on President Ronald Reagan, during which his spokesman James Brady received serious gunshot wounds. He was paralyzed, and until the end of his days he remained confined to a wheelchair.

The law was signed by US President Bill Clinton on November 30, 1993.
