Biography

Ivan Sudakevich was born on January 28 ( February 9 ), 1859 in Kiev , in the family of a guard of the Second Kiev Men's Gymnasium . In 1869, Sudakevich Jr. entered the second grade of the gymnasium in which his father worked. After receiving secondary education, in 1876 he became a student in the medical faculty of the Imperial Kiev University of St. Vladimir . During his studies at the university, he, of his own free will, twice remained in the second year: in the second and fifth courses. As a fourth-year student, he wrote an essay on the topic “Elastic fabric, its structure and development,” for which he received a gold medal from the university. In his student years, among his teachers was a pathologist and infectious disease specialist , Professor Grigory Minh .

In 1884 Sudakevich received higher education - he graduated from Kiev University with a doctor’s degree. In the same year he became an assistant to the prosector at the Department of Pathological Anatomy of his native university; in 1888 he became a university prosector. In 1888 he successfully defended his thesis for the degree of doctor of medicine - on the topic "Towards the pathology of leprosy"; After the defense, he became a privat-docent in the same department. Three years later, in 1891, he was seconded to Europe for scientific work - at the expense of the Ministry of Education : he worked in Paris (studied bacteriology at the Louis Pasteur Institute ), and also became familiar with the methods of teaching pathological anatomy at the universities of Vienna , Berlin and Paris [ 1] . During the scientific missions of Professor Minch himself, Sudakevich served as head of the Kiev Department of Pathological Anatomy.

In 1892, Sudakevich moved to Siberia - he was elected to the post of extraordinary professor at the Department of Pathological Anatomy, which was part of the Imperial University of Tomsk ; took the position of professor Konstantin Vinogradov who left Tomsk . According to TSU, Sudakevich "proved to be a talented lecturer ... [his] lectures on pathological anatomy were popular among students." During his work in Tomsk, the university collection of macro- and micropreparations was significantly replenished. He died in Tomsk on December 13 ( 25 ), 1896 , at the age of 37 years (sometimes, by mistake - 47 years).
