Biography
Harold Tower was born on July 17, 1911 in Lodai , California .
Engaged in rowing while studying at the University of California at Berkeley , was in the local rowing team "California Golden Beers", repeatedly participated in various student regattas, particularly in the eight in 1932 won the Inter-University Rowing Association (IRA) championship.
He achieved the highest success in rowing at the international level in the 1932 season when, while still a university student, he joined the main team of the American national team and, thanks to a series of successful performances, won the right to defend the honor of the country at the Los Angeles home summer Olympics . As part of the swing team of the eight with the helmsman in the final, he walked around all his rivals, including by two tenths of a second ahead of his closest pursuers from Italy, and thereby won the Olympic gold medal.
