IDAS

IDAS ( German I nteractive Defense and Attack S ystem for Submarines ) is a multifunctional underwater launch rocket developed by the German company Arge IDAS [1] .

Features

IDAS is designed to arm small submarines, for example, project 212A ( Germany ). Its difference is the ability to destroy not only ships (sea-to-sea mode), but also objects on land (sea-to-sea mode) and air targets, in particular helicopters (sea-to-air mode) [1] . The flight range is about 20 km [1] . In this case, the rocket starts from the nasal launchers, carries out part of its movement under water, and after reaching the surface it flies through the air [1] .

The missile is equipped with an infrared seeker . The length of the rocket is 2.5 m, the caliber is 240 mm, the diameter is 180 mm, the launch weight is 120 kg [1] .
