Jean Marto ( Fr. Jean Marteau ; April 4, 1903 , Reims - September 23, 1970 , Geneva ) - Swiss writer and journalist. The son of a violinist Henri Marto .

He published nine novels, including the historical novel Broken Heart ( French: Crèvecœur ; 1945), based on a legend according to which the illegitimate son of Louis XVI found refuge in Geneva [2] .
Perennial columnist of the newspaper . Marto's essays devoted to the city are collected in the books The Roads of Geneva ( French Les Chemins de Genève ; 1963), Chronicles with Geneva Sauce ( French Chroniques à la sauce genevoise ; 1967), Geneva and Its Old Bistros ( Fr. Genève et ses vieux bistrots ; 1971).
Buried in the Kings Cemetery . Marto's name is the square in Geneva ( French Place Jean-Marteau ) [3] , on it there is a bust of the writer. For further work with the legacy of the writer, the Society of Jean Marto was created in 1999 [4] .
