Story
1930 Hainan Island , like the whole of China, was torn apart by civil war. Somewhere there are military cliques, and somewhere “Soviet districts” have already formed. The film tells about the detachment of women from Hainan Island , who in the 1930s participated on the side of the Chinese communists during the civil war in China against the forces of the Kuomintang led by Chiang Kai-shek .
In the 1930s, one of the main heroines of Wu Qiunhua worked as a housekeeper for Nan Batian, a cruel commander. Often insulted by her master, Wu Qiunhua was rescued by Hong Changqing, the commander of a military Red squad consisting of women. She joined the detachment, and after the death of Huna, instead became the commander of the detachment. At the end of the film, the Red Women’s Detachment liberated Wu Tsyunhua’s native village, captured and executed Nan Batian.
