Gerrit Frederick Hendrik Gisler ( Dutch: Gerrit Frederik Hendrik Gischler ; February 19, 1915 , Amsterdam - April 8, 1994 , ibid. [2] ) - a Dutch footballer who played in the positions of the right midfielder and right welterweight striker , played for Amsterdam “ Ajax ”.

Sports career

At the age of nineteen, Gerrit made his debut for the Ajax football club. He played the first game in the Dutch championship on March 3, 1934 against the club [3] , having replaced at the beginning of the second half instead of midfielder Wim Anderisen - away his team lost 4: 2 [4] . That season, he played in his home game against Willem II [5] , which took place as part of an additional tournament for the championship title [6] . In June 1935, Gisler played twice in a championship tournament, as a result of which his club took third place in the championship, and also participated in the international tournament in Brussels , which ended in the victory of Ajax.

In the 1935/36 season, he began to regularly appear on the field in the starting lineup at the position of the right midfielder. In March 1936 he was transferred to the line of attack - to the position of the right welterweight striker [9] . He scored his first goal in the championship on March 8, 1936 in a meeting with [10] , and in the next round he scored a goal against the [11] . March 18, played for the second team of the Netherlands against the English team Southend United , coming on as a substitute [12] , and March 28 spent his only match for the national team of Amsterdam [13] . In the last round of the first western group of the championship, Gisler was forced to leave the field already in the 24th minute, Jan Distelbrink appeared in his place [14] . It was soon announced that Gerrit would miss the championship tournament due to a knee injury [15] - in just a season he played 19 matches and scored 2 goals [16] .

In the next two seasons, he rarely got into the squad, and only in January 1939 he returned to the main squad of Ajax and won with the team the national title in the 1938/39 season [17] . Later he played for the football team of the Heineken brewing company, of which he was an employee. In December 1942, it was announced that Gisler would return to Ajax [18] . In total, in “Ajax” over ten seasons, he took part in 42 championship matches and scored 5 goals [3] . The last time as part of the “red-white” went on the field on October 12, 1947 in a match with “ De Wolewijkers ” [3] , replacing Kes Wolffers in the second half [19] .

Personal life

Gerrit was born in February 1915 in Amsterdam [2] . Father - Gerrit Frederick Hendrick Gisler, mother - Klache Veldman, both parents were from Amsterdam [2] . In addition to him, the family had two more children: the daughter of Gesin Frederic and the son of Hermannius [20] .

He married at the age of twenty-six - his wife was 23-year-old Katarina Elizabeth Dysbergen, a native of Amsterdam. Their marriage was registered on September 3, 1941 in Amsterdam. In May 1946, a son named Tom Adrian was born in their family, and in August 1951 a daughter, Karla, was born [2] .

Since March 1934 he worked in the administrative department of the Heineken brewing company [21] . In January 1952, he went to Venezuela with his wife and children to the city of Caracas , where he was appointed administrative manager of a subsidiary of the Heineken brewery [22] . At the end of 1954, he returned with his family to Amsterdam [23] . After returning, he became an employee of the general export department [21] . In December 1978, he left the company, where he recently worked in the human resources department; in general, he worked for Heineken for 44 years. Since March 1980, he has been retired [24] . In addition to football, he played table and tennis.

He died on April 8, 1994 in Amsterdam at the age of 79 years [2] [24] . His widow died in April 2011 at the age of 92 years [25] .
