Biography
The date and place of birth of Fedor Fintelman have not been established. It is known that in 1820 he drew up a project for encircling Moscow with a park, but the idea was never implemented due to the death of His Grace Prince D.V. Golitsyn, who sympathized with him. Other projects of Fyodor Vasilyevich were more successful. He laid out and planned Petrovsky Park [1] , took an active part in the development of public gardens and city boulevards in Moscow.
Fintelman was the teacher of most Russian gardeners in the mid-19th century. Russian industrial gardening owes much to its development. In 1852, he published a work in four parts entitled: “Complete Russian gardening, floriculture and horticulture, or a guide based on 45 years of experience in raising and breeding plants in rooms, greenhouses, greenhouses, gardens and vegetable gardens” [1] . Part I contains a garden calendar, part II contains a description of plants, part III contains a practical guide, and part IV contains garden secrets.
