Eumenes (Fileter's brother)

According to the testimony of Memnon of Heracles , Eumenes was the ruler of Amastrida, which was previously owned by the inhabitants of Heracles . At the beginning of the III century BC. e. the Hercules, freed from the power of the Macedonians , were able to regain almost all the possessions previously lost by them. However, they could not return Amastridu “neither by war, nor by money, nor by force”, because, as a result of “unreasonable anger”, Eumenes preferred to “hand over” the city to the Pontic king Ariobarzan . A number of scholars (for example, Maksimova M.I. and Lomouri N. Yu.) Believed that the entry of Amastrida into the Pontic kingdom happened in 280-279 BC. e. However, Saprykin S. Yu. , Who also shared this point of view earlier, later, with reference to details from the text of Memnon, did not exclude that these events could have occurred in the late 260 - early 250 BC. e.

Many researchers consider Eumenes the elder brother of Filet, the first ruler of the independent kingdom of Pergamon. According to them, the first-born Boa initially received his post from Lysimachus and his third wife Arsinoe . It is also known that both brothers were honored by the Delphians for their good deeds.

Eumenes had a son , bearing the same name, to which the power over Pergamum passed.
