Events
CK Chanterelles, current condition
- On June 20, a new star was discovered in the constellation Chanterelle , the oldest of the reliably documented new ones. Now it is called CK Chanterelles . In the XVII century, it was observed by Jan Hevelius and Giovanni Cassini , the star behaved unusually: it soon went out, 10 months later flared up again, in May 1672 it went out completely. Today, the study of this interesting and unusual object continues [1] .
- Through the efforts of Robert Sibbald and Scottish Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh was founded [2] .
- The French astronomer Jean Picard finished measuring the degree of the Paris meridian in the Paris – Amiens section; it turned out to be 111.21 km, that is, only 0.03 km more than the current value [3] .
