Hansjürgen Schaefer ( German: Hansjürgen Schaefer ; October 7, 1930 , Freiberg - 1999 ) is a German music critic.
In 1952-1954 studied at the Leipzig Conservatory , then studied musicology in Berlin . In 1957-1960 editor of the music department of the Berliner Zeitung newspaper . In 1960-1973 the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Music and Society” ( German: Musik und Gesellschaft ), a monthly publication of the , was simultaneously published as a critic in the newspaper of the Socialist United Party of Germany Neues Deutschland . In 1973-1991 Artistic Director of East German Recording Corporation . At the same time, he continued to act as a music critic, including as a mouthpiece of the GDR's official state policy in the field of music (in particular, with the glorification of Hans Eisler as a symbol of socialist German musical culture) [1] .
Schaefer edited the second, revised edition of Wilhelm Buschkötter 's International Guide to Concert Literature (1996).
