Biography

She was born in Moscow on May 22, 1961 in a family of hereditary teachers: her mother (Dubrovskaya Irina Aleksandrovna) was the head teacher, and then the director of school No. 174 (now lyceum No. 1574 ) at the Russian Technical University and entered the list of honored teachers of Moscow; father (Viktor Alekseevich Dubrovsky) was a teacher at MIIT , where his father and then MATI also taught. D.V. Dubrovskaya - niece of People's Artist of Russia Vladimir Alekseevich Dubrovsky .

She graduated from English special school No. 49 (now school No. 2054 ), after which she entered the ISAA of Moscow State University , after which she entered the graduate school of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (now the Institute of Mathematics, RAS). Here, in 1989, she defended her dissertation on the history of international relations in Central Asia with a focus on Xinjiang ("The struggle in the ruling circles of the Qing Empire on the issue of politics in Xinjiang, 60-70s of the XIX century.") - the same topic will largely form the basis of her first monograph [1] , which was one of the first systematic domestic studies on this topic.

After graduating from postdoctoral research in 2002 under the guidance of Professor Julia Qing at the University of Toronto, she returned to Russia and continued her scientific work at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (under whose auspices she published several dozen articles), while simultaneously actively popularizing historical subjects as historical editors of Around the World magazine and author of general interest publications for Around the World, National Geographic , GEO , Aeroflot magazine and many other publications.

In 2018, D.V. Dubrovskaya became the organizer, creator, and editor of the latest edition of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences - Vestnik, which in a short time became the second most important after the journal Orient (the last since 1955 was the main printed organ of the Institute). In the same year, she, as the author-compiler, carried out the full work on the preparation of the jubilee publication dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Institute of Oriental Studies [2] . In 2019, D.V. Dubrovskaya became a member of the editorial board of the "East".

In 2017, she received a master's degree in art from the Higher School of Economics in the direction of “art history” (in fact, as a speaker ), in 2019 she became a member of the Russian Association of Art Critics. In scientific works, starting in 2016, there is a distinct and new interest in the fusion of historical subjects with art history [3] . Since 2019 - head of the sector of civilizational and regional problems of the Oriental History Division of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (director D. D. Vasiliev )

Parallel to scientific and scientific-popularizing work, D. V. Dubrovskaya is actively engaged in creative and translation activities: in 2008-2014. she co-authored and under a pseudonym wrote the mystical and historical trilogy The Fourth Coast [4] [5] [6] (music for the first part of the trilogy was written by P. Nalich ), and a number of translations were published earlier, two of which are given below .

In 1994-1997 taught english. the language at school No. 174 and subsequently RHTU, now (2018 - present) teaches a number of historical disciplines at GAUGN.
