Biography
Parfitt was born in Sheffield , South Yorkshire, in 1935 in the family of Lawrence Hamilton Parfitt and his wife Catherine Josephine. [4] [5] As a teenager, she attended Notre Dame High School for Girls, and then studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art , graduating in 1953. [6]
She made her film debut in 1956. In a supporting role in "Received Information", a crime tape directed by Robert Lynn, Parfitt first gained recognition from viewers and professionals (1961). [1] Five years later, she played Rosa Dartle in the BBC mini-series David Copperfield. Judy also appeared as Queen Gertrude in 1969 in Tony Richardson 's Hamlet.

Since 2012, Parfitt starred in the drama series “ Call the Midwife ” in the role of nun Monica Joan. [7]
