Socha ( Spanish Socha ) is a small town and municipality in the east of the central part of Colombia , in the territory of the Boyaca department. Included in the province of Valderrama .

Content
History
The settlement from which the city later grew was founded on October 22, 1540. The municipality of Soča was separated into a separate administrative unit in 1870 [1] .
Geographical position
The city is located in the eastern part of the department, in the highlands of the Eastern Cordillera , east of the Chicamocha River, approximately 84 kilometers northeast of the city of Tunja , the administrative center of the department. The absolute height is 2685 meters above sea level [2] .
The municipality of Soča is bordered in the north-west by the territories of the municipalities of Sativasur and Pas de Río , in the south-west and the south by the municipality of Taxco , and in the east by the municipality of Sokot . The area of the municipality is 264 km² [1] .
Population
According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia, the total population of the city and municipality in 2015 was 7140 people [3] . The dynamics of the population of the municipality by year:

According to the 2005 census, men made up 50.2% of the population of Sochi, women - respectively 49.8%. Racially whites and mestizos accounted for 99.9% of the city’s population; Blacks , mulattoes, and Riesale - 0.1% [4] . The literacy rate of the entire population was 90.4%.
Economy
62.2% of the total number of city and municipal enterprises are enterprises of the trade sector, 31% are service enterprises, 6.6% are industrial enterprises, 0.2% are enterprises of other sectors of the economy [4] .
Transportation
Through the city passes the national highway number 64.
