"New York Cinema" ( Eng. New York Movie ) - a picture of the American artist- realist Edward Hopper, written in 1939. It is stored in the New York Museum of Modern Art in New York [1] .

History
Hopper began work on the painting in December 1938, having previously made about 50 sketches. Hopper’s biographer, Gail Levin, suggested that the painting could have been written, in part, under the influence of the painting “ Interior Degas . Hopper explored several different New York cinema theaters as a backdrop for the painting: Strand , Globe and Republic including [2] .
