Kyriakos Velopoulos ( Greek: Κυριάκος Βελόπουλος ; b. October 24, 1965 , Essen , Germany ) was a Greek right-wing politician , member of the European Parliament , former member of the Greek parliament (2007–2012), a television worker.

Biography
Born in Essen (Germany), grew up in Thessaloniki (Greece). After graduating from high school, he studied journalism.
During compulsory military service in the Greek army, he served as an officer on the islands of the North-Eastern Aegean Sea and mainland Greece. He is a member of the Academy of Greek Language in Germany and a member of the Writers' Union of Northern Greece. Until 1988, he was a member of the youth organization of the New Democratic Party and defines himself as belonging to the “patriotic wing of the New Democracy” [1] .
He gained fame as a TV presenter and telemarketer, selling, among other things, books with "authentic letters written by the hand of Jesus Christ." Academic community, media and some church leaders pointed to the obvious non-history of these relics [2] [3] [4] .
Political career
Kyriakos Velopoulos was a member of the right-wing nationalist populist party of Georgios Karadzaferis. People’s Orthodox call . He participated as a candidate in the parliamentary elections of 2004 , scored 5,700 votes, but the party received only 2.90% of the votes and did not go to parliament. In the local elections in 2006, he was a candidate for the post of governor of the Pela Prefecture, where he finished third with 7.11%. In the parliamentary elections of 2007 and 2009 , Velopoulos was elected deputy of the Greek Parliament from the Prefecture of B Thessaloniki.
Since 2016 - President of the political decision founded by him. Greek decision [5] . In the European elections of 2019, his party won one seat in the European Parliament. He opposes the separation of the Orthodox Church and the state, for the death penalty and the closure of borders.
