Charles "Charlie" Oliver ( born Charles "Charlie" Oliver ; born ) is a Solomon athlete , a specialist in middle-distance running . He played for the Solomon Islands track and field team in the period 1979-1985, a silver and bronze medalist of the South Pacific Games, a participant in the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles .

Biography
Charlie Oliver was born on July 9, 1955.
The first serious success in athletics at the adult international level was achieved in the 1979 season, when he entered the main team of the Solomon national team and visited the South Pacific Games in Suva , from where he brought the bronze dignity award won in the 800 meter running program.
In 1981, at the home South Pacific mini-games in Honiara, he won a victory at a distance of 800 meters and became the silver medalist in the discipline of 1,500 meters.
In 1982, he ran 800 and 1,500 meters at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, in particular, set his personal record at a distance of 800 meters, showing the time 1: 52.64.
At the 1983 South Pacific Games in Apia, he won the silver medal in the 800m race, losing in the decisive final race to Fiji's representative Richard Kermode. He was noted for his performance at the World Championships in Helsinki , where in the 1,500-meter run he set a personal record - 4: 18.24.
Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles - this was the first time that the Solomon Islands delegated their team to the Olympic Games. At the preliminary qualification stage of the 800-meter run, he showed the time 1: 53.22 and could not get to the next stage of the competition [2] .
After the Los Angeles Olympics, Oliver for some time remained in the track and field team of the Solomon Islands and continued to take part in major international competitions. So, in 1985, in the race for 800 meters, he won a silver medal at the South Pacific mini-games in Rarotonga - in the final he lost to the representative of Papua New Guinea John Dsiguria [3] .
