Gaidai, Konstantin Gennadyevich

In 2001 he graduated from the Faculty of Design of the Architectural Environment of the Novosibirsk State Academy of Architecture and Arts, now the Novosibirsk State University of Architecture, Design and Arts . In 2002, as a fashion illustrator, he collaborated with fashion magazines OM, Harpers Bazaar, L'Officiel and others ^[5] ; in the same year he began a designer’s career, participating in the development of accessories and prints for the Arsenicum brand Dmitry Loginov ^[6] .

In 2004, Konstantin Gaidai launched his own brand and presented his debut collection of hats in the framework of Russian Fashion Week, in 2005 the first full-scale collection of designer clothes under his own brand was shown ^{[3] [7]} .

In 2007, the cult magazine iD in the White Trash Issue special issue named Konstantin Gaidai one of the key representatives of the Russian avant-garde fashion-movement. And in the special issue of The Out of The Blue Issue, this same publication called the designer a “national star.” The influential in the world of fashion edition of Women's Wear Daily put Gaidai in the top ten rankings of the best Russian designers. In 2008, the Afisha magazine included Konstantin Gaidai in the “Seven of the freshest, most successful, and modern designers of the country” ^[8] .

In 2010, Gaidai declared himself in Europe, presenting a capsule collection at the Tranoi exhibition during Paris Fashion Week ^[9] . After the exhibition, headwear and clothing under Gaidai’s own trademark began to be sold in stores in France, Italy, England, Switzerland, Denmark, USA and Japan ^[8] .

From 2011 to 2013, Konstantin Gaidai developed three collections of casual wear and a special New Year collection for the large Russian retailer Tvoe ^{[10] [11]} .

The recognition of Russian retailers can be considered a line of wedding hats developed by request of the Central Department Store in 2012 ^[12] .

In 2012, Konstantin Gaidai was a invited fashion expert in the TV project “Top Model in Russian” on the Yu TV Channel ^[13] . In 2014, he was one of the hosts of the Angels of Beauty program on CTC Love ^[14] . In 2018, Gaidai participated as an expert in the Podium project on Friday! ^[15] .

In 2012–2016, Konstantin Gaidai presented his couture collections of hats: “12” (based on the archetypal images of the ancient Russian epos, the 13th item from the collection was sent to Madonna) ^[16] , “Gods” (religious and mystical theme) ^[17] , “Shadows” (game of shadows, contrasts and opposites) ^[18] , “The Shapkas” (based on religious and cultural Russian traditions, including fairy tales) ^[19] . Musical accompaniment of shows is prepared by DJ Sergey Orange, developing the concept together with the designer ^[19] .

In 2016, for the Czech Moser Crystal manufactory, Konstantin Gaidai created a collection of KUPOLA crystal glasses, inspired by St. Basil’s Cathedral on Red Square ^[20] . Subsequently, this collection of glasses was exhibited in the State Historical Museum ^[21] , and later became part of the main collection of the Glass and Porcelain department of the State Historical Museum on Red Square ^[22] . Konstantin Gaidai also presented his collections in the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art ^[23] , and in 2018 part of the designer’s hats were also included in the main collection of this museum ^[24] .
